Standing Against Georgia Women
DC politician Doug Collins has refused to stand up for Georgia women, fighting against reproductive freedom and opposing a reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act in Congress.
Not only is Collins out of step with Georgians on reproductive freedom, but he’s repeatedly attacked the Supreme Court’s landmark ruling in Roe v. Wade, which he “would like to see” overturned. Throughout his time in Washington, Collins has repeatedly pushed his political agenda onto Georgia women.
August 11, 2012: Collins seemingly dismissed exceptions for the life of the mother, claiming that while “the life of the mother was always considered” before the Roe v. Wade decision, “that’s a consideration that I just don’t have.”
April 7, 2016: Collins said that he “would like to see” the “overturning of Roe v. Wade.”
April 22, 2016: Collins continued his refusal to recognize even a basic right to choose, calling Roe v. Wade “one of the worst decisions ever made.”
April 3, 2019: Collins infamously spoke “in opposition” to the Violence Against Women Re-Authorization Act as part of ultra-conservative ojections to the law.
